The Network Engineer must have extensive experience in the following areas:
Communication Protocols
- Possess strong understanding and ability to learn various routing and switching protocols
- Possess strong understanding and ability to learn various application layer protocols
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices utilizing the command-line
IT Infrastructure
- Support the building of various test beds
- Ability to configure various services running on Linux and Windows operating systems
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot applications hosted on Linux and Windows clients and servers
- Ability to interconnect networks using mediums including copper, optical fiber, and wireless
Automation and Test
- Understanding of virtualization technologies including VMware
- Ability to write scripts to automate tasks such as installing and configuring a service
- Perform test validation
- Perform exploratory testing of software
Research and Training
- Provide consultation to teams performing research
- Provide consultation to teams performing training
- Support customer interactions when performing training
Writing
- Review user guides and test documents for accuracy and completeness
- Support the editing / delivery of artifacts to the customer
- Support diagraming and documentation of test beds
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field along with at least 8 years of related work experience.
- Good written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required
- Strong working experience with the cloud-based technology is required
- Strong working experience with Windows and Linux operating systems is required
- Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance by the U.S. Government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Good written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. Additionally, a demonstrated proficiency in keyboard skills and the utilization of Microsoft Office are required. Strong working experience with Windows and Linux operating systems. Strong background in software engineering and networking is preferred.
