Overview The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Civil Engineer II in our Oakland, CA office to support our growing transportation practice. The successful candidate will work with a team of civil engineers on a wide range of assignments including large, complex highway and rail transit design projects.
Job Summary Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).
Essential Responsibility
- Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
- Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities - Assists in the preparation and completion of civil engineering designs that are responsive to project needs.
- Coordinates and prepares design details, plans, specifications, reports, estimates, calculations and drawings within assigned task areas.
- Coordinate work with project team members.
- Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Can complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Basic Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2 years relevant experience
EIT
Preferred Qualification/Skills
- Master's degree in Engineering
- 1 year relevant experience
- 2+ years relevant experience
- Proficiency with Microstation and/or AutoCAD
- Experience with InRoads, and/or Civil 3D
- Possess strong self-motivation, communication skills (written and verbal), leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks on multiple projects and have attention to detail.
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client's job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
