Job Summary Uses engineering principles and experience to solve complicated technical issues related to the use of biomedical equipment. Provides technical support to all management and technical personnel. Works with the Biomedical Engineering Director, Clinicians, and Supply Chain to evaluate new technologies that are being considered for purchase. Assists the Director with professional medical equipment planning services the organization. Provides technical leadership related to special projects. Develops and manages department QA program. Works with technical team to provide oversight and management of recalls, alerts, and Safetynets involving medical equipment. Provides guidance, leadership and support for the Clinical Engineer.
Job Responsibilities - Assists Director with the planning of medical equipment technology capital requirements including the setting of priorities and document requirements for multi-year technology replacement plan.
- Resolves clinical and technical problems related to the safe and effective use of clinical equipment by working with clinical and technical staff, along with vendors to gain the information needed to develop an effective solution.
- Develops and maintains technical knowledge of evolving and emerging medical technologies and provides consultation to clinicians and leadership
- Coordinates the evaluation of new medical technologies including the development of assessment tools, evaluation of vendor device specifications, evaluation of design, performance and technical documentation, and the writing of a technical report of findings and recommendations.
- Develops, coordinates, and performs research and testing to solve problems with the use of medical technology by partnering with clinicians and vendors to create solutions.

Required Education and Experience Required Education: Bachelors in Biomedical or Clinical Engineering.
Required Experience: A minimum of 3 yearsperience in a clinical setting.

Additional Technical Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of medical device theory and their application in the clinical environment
- Knowledge and experience using accepted engineering principles in electronics, pneumatics, and mechanics.
- Must have good technical writing skills.
- Good understanding of human physiology and how it interfaces with technology.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are needed in all aspects of the job.
