About the Job Come and join the team building Akamai's data analytics platform. Built to process events in real-time, and scale to handle 1.3PT of traffic per day generated from our global network, the platform allows for interactive, ad-hoc data queries.
Akamai is growing, and we're looking for a Software Engineer to join our top-notch analytics team. You'll work on a real-time analytics back-end capable of handling billions of events per day. This is an opportunity for you to take your passion for engineering, and build compelling applications to develop the next generation of Web performance analytics, working side-by-side with some of the industry's leading Web performance experts.
About the Team This is a small, focused team in the Web Division at Akamai. Our team is responsible for this Big Data platform, providing both data warehouse and analytics capabilities to Akamai's customers as well as internal researchers. In addition, this platform is used as a foundation for new, innovative applications at Akamai.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and deploy large scale enhancements that contribute to the evolution of our system.
- Embrace an ays availablelture through solid design principles, resilient software, and operational awareness.
- Partner with architects, researchers, and subject-matter experts across Akamai's broad areas of interest.
- Maintenance is an important part of this role and is shared across all team members.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3+ years distributed computing experience
- 1+ years of experience in Java in a system-oriented environment.
- 1+ years of experience with SQL.
- 1+ years of experience with HTTP.
- 1+ years' experience in deploying, supporting and debugging complex applications in a system-oriented environment.
Desired Qualifications - Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experienced with JavaScript
- Functional programming experience using Haskell, Scala, or related languages.
- Experience with Open-Source frameworks and functions such as Mesos, Kafka, Cassandra, Spark, and Ceph.
- Fast learner, adaptable, strong team player.
