The Senior Linux / Storage System Engineer is part of the Infrastructure Team supporting enterprise systems. You will work with colleagues from around-the-globe providing the foundation for a company that produces great software and services.
- Design, present, and lead deployment of technical projects
- Make systems and processes more efficient ter, faster employing best-in-class technologies and tools and effectively utilizing people.
- Troubleshoot storage platforms, systems, and applications to identify and correct operational problems with virtual servers hosted on the corporate ESX and OpenStack environments. Support includes, but is not limited to, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades and installation of hardware and software
- Develop procedures, proposals, plans, and guidelines for storage design and system configuration, deployment, and support of the virtualization infrastructure (currently based upon VMware, OpenStack, and Open Storage platforms.
- Create processes and identify tools that enhance operational workflow and that improve internal and external customer impact.
- Troubleshooting difficult problems, sharing knowledge and mentoring others.
- A desire and aptitude to program and script
- Excellent analytical and problems solving skills: experience troubleshooting complex systems.
- Strong process background with a focus on iterative or agile development practices
- Must be able to provide on-call service as part of team rotation assignment
- Experience in deploying and supporting CentOS, Red Hat, or Debian operating systems.
- Automate routine tasks using tools such as: Puppet, Ansible, Chef.
- Able to assess the code of others and must be able to write in BASH, Perl or Python. Experience in other languages: C, C++, Java etc. is a plus.
- Comfortable with version control tools like Git, Perforce, RCS, CVS.
- Have a demonstrable knowledge of virtual operating system products like VMware vSphere ESXi and Virtual Center.
- Have a demonstrable knowledge of OpenStack.
- Experience with system monitoring tools such as Nagios and Cacti.
