We are currently looking for a Systems Development Engineer to join our team for building and maintaining a first-class software service that serves as an execution environment for all network device operations across all of AWS and Amazon.com.

Youclass="title_p"> Previously built and operated infrastructure services that fuel innovation throughout an organization. You are very comfortable and confident working on Linux systems. You have very strong knowledge of operating system and networking fundamentals. You understand TCP/IP and other common network protocols. You are proficient with at least one high-level scripting language. You have a bias toward automation and a track record of creating automated solutions. You have experience operating distributed systems and diagnosing and resolving complex problems. You thrive on delivering high-quality solutions in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast. You pay attention to detail and solve problems at their root.

Your main responsibilities would be toclass="title_p"> · Understand business needs and requirements
· Have a complete understanding of various system interdependency and limitations
· Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
· Architect, design, implement, support, and secure services' infrastructure
· Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies
· Identify security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans
· Mentor junior members of the team
· Support critical infrastructure services that process millions of requests every minute
· Participate in on-call rotation
· Participate in projects that develop new intellectual property

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline or equivalent work experience
· 5+ years of System Engineering experience in the cloud
· Strong ownership, urgency, and drive to launch infrastructure services
· The ability to write code to solve problems and automate repetitive tasks in a common scripting or programming language such as Python, Ruby, Bash, Go, etc.
· Linux-based system administration or development
· Experience running / troubleshooting a 24x7 production computing environment
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team and to interface with multiple teams across an organization
· Understanding of network fundamentals
· Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities
· Ability to make concrete progress in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge
· Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline.
· Firm grasp and experience with networking fundamentals
· Understanding and experience building automated and self-healing distributed systems in commercial scale
· Experience driving large, cross-organization initiatives
· Experience using Amazon Web Services such as EC2, EBS, and S3
· Experience with a modern programming language such as C, C++, or Java
· Experience in Agile / SCRUM enterprise - scale software development
· Experience with deployment management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
