The Research Engineer Intern position is responsible for assisting the Research Engineer(s) in the R&D Product Innovation department. The Research Engineer Intern will work closely on individual research projects while assisting ongoing development and research projects. Projects focus on biomechanics, design, and process improvements. The successful candidate is a creative and innovative thinker, motivated by curiosity.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist biomechanical engineers in laboratory bench testing and design work
- Work independently on summer research project and create a final presentation to share with the team
- Activities may include:
- Concept generation and iterative prototyping
- Formulating and testing hypotheses
- Investigative research and root cause analysis
- Data interpretation and analysis
- Participate in project update meetings and effectively present data and findings
- Work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS - Self-motivated with hands-on approach to laboratory studies
- Team player, strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving skills, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Student currently pursuing a Bachelorr Masteregree (junior level or higher) in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Biomechanical Engineering preferred. Other scientific and engineering disciplines will be considered
- Laboratory/research or previous internship experience
- Experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks or similar
- Experience with MATLAB or other programming for engineering, statistical analysis, and/or data processing
- Experience with rapid prototyping processes
WORK SCHEDULE / HOURS
- 10-12 week summer internship during regular business hours
