Our Business Assurance services is made up of four business operations consisting of Certification, Customised Assurance, Inspection Services, and Nettitude. We provide a range of assurance services globally across many sectors like - Food, Manufacturing, Automobile, Aerospace, Medical, Environmental etc. The business is moving through a considerable period of change and offers exciting opportunities to broaden our product and service portfolio so that we can further drive the growth of our business.
The operations team is the delivery and growth engine of our business and therefore it is critical that we ensure we can:

Due to an internal growth move of the existing incumbent to another strategic role within the business, we are now looking to hire an ‘Area Operations Manager for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa region (SAMEA)’ for our Business Assurance Certification Services. We are open for this role to be based either in Dubai or Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, the final location will be determined based on the candidate we will select and his/her location preference. The role will report into the Global Business Director for Business Assurance Certification Services based in Birmingham (UK) and will offer excellent opportunities for both personal and professional development.
Responsibility for the SAMEA region will cover geographies that include UAE, Australia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, South Africa, Egypt and Qatar along with other countries, with circa 200 permanent employees’ and a budgetary responsibility for £22.3 Million annual revenue.
Role purpose: To lead, inspire, and motivate the Sales and Operations teams within the SAMEA region to proactively manage their whole Client portfolio and to generate and deliver new and existing business, through the promotion of LR’s products and services and excellent service delivery.
This role will be required to:
- To lead and manage teams within the area of responsibility in line with agreed strategies and budgets to achieve assessment and training services commercial and operational targets.
- Create and influence the strategic business plans to meet both the current and emerging needs of the business.
- As a member of the Global Operations Management Team, influence decision making processes and contribute to the development and achievement of the strategic objective targets for the overall growth and development of the business.
- To provide guidance, direction, and support through the Area Client Support Manager to the Client services function.
- To drive the development and execution of the CRM plans to retain and grow the lifetime value of both existing and new Clients so that the teams meet or exceed sales targets.
- To act as a role model/ambassador for both the LR values and leadership behaviours.
What will you be doing? - Create a long-term business strategy for the area, in line with global and regional strategies and targets, incorporating wider business environment, competition and other market forces and drivers. Develop an annual business plan and budget in line with the agreed strategy incorporating both assessment and commercial training services
- Meet the agreed finance and business targets and objectives to enhance the short and long-term commercial success of the area through commercial and market knowledge and focus on achieving results for assessment and commercial training services.
- Lead and evaluate commercial opportunities by monitoring industry, drivers, products and competitor activities by analysing its effect on LRQA’s value proposition and sharing knowledge with internal stakeholders to achieve business and resource strategies.
- Lead, manage and develop the management team to build capacity and capability through recruitment, people engagement, performance management and development to meet strategic and business objectives. Drive and encourage management team to do the same with their staff.
- Working with Business Director and HRBP to drive and create robust resourcing, talent and succession plans to build and sustain a high-performance culture
- Drive effective resource planning for technical and non-technical employees, to achieve cost-effective and efficient service delivery in line with strategic plans and objectives
- Lead and manage the sales team to identify and build upon key accounts, markets, development opportunities and activities in line with key local and global strategic objectives, collaborating with other areas in order to support key, major and multinational Clients, and service delivery requirements
- Responsible for driving safety, quality and business improvements by ensuring that structures, systems, processes, and procedures are coordinated, effective and efficient to meet business, commercial and management systems requirements whilst improving margin to meet business objectives.
- Set, monitor and report financial and non-financial performance against agreed budgets in line with local and global financial targets, strategies and timelines, reporting on financial anomalies in line with agreed procedures
- Undertake Client visits as appropriate to support major bids, build and maintain strong working relationships with key Clients, and lead the resolution of complaints in line with group procedures
- Monitor and control internal processes to ensure and the effective delivery of agreed business results, making improvements where required, to meet business objectives
- Working with the group and local support functions to ensure agreed service levels are provided to support the area through the effective and timely resolution of issues and escalating and seeking external support where appropriate.
- Eliminate or minimise employee's exposure to risks by reviewing, regularly, the health and safety risk register, applying appropriate controls, communicating results of risk assessment and ensuring health and safety is considered in the planning and execution of all LR activities.
- Manage your own and your team's compliance with health and safety rules, instructions, systems and legal requirements, ensuring employees are suitably trained and adequate resources are available to work safely.
- Monitor and review health and safety performance, observe safety behaviours in the workplace, taking appropriate corrective and preventive action as necessary and suggesting and implementing improvement activities.
What are we looking for? - A bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline; an MBA will be desirable.
- Proven track record in successfully managing a growing and profitable business (direct responsibility for a P&L), and building organisational and technical capabilities.
- Experienced in formulating and implementing business plans and strategies to meet regional and global financial and non-financial objectives.
- Have at least 7-10 years relevant experience, preferably from a similar professional services organisation with a multinational or multicultural work environment.
- Customer focused with the ability to build sustainable, strategic and commercial relationships and alliances.
- Knowledge and understanding of the (country) management systems market, LRQA products, and services.
- Experienced in leading and managing a senior management team in areas including recruitment, resourcing, performance, development, and capability.
- Experienced in working with Marketing and Sales teams to support new and existing business development to achieve business objectives.
- Fluent in English. Advantageous to have proficiency in a second language supporting business within region i.e. Arabic, but not mandatory.
