Opportunity Responsibilities Senior Country Managers are allocated a combination of countries to take through the process of participation, from signing them up to completing both BIE and Expo 2020 Dubai obligations and operational steps. Country Managers will be involved in country participation at Expo from the time of their confirmation to the time of their decommissioning, following the closure of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Main responsibilities for this role include: - Senior Country Managers are responsible for the comprehensive management of relations with participant countries.
- Through in-depth knowledge and research of participant countries under their mandate, Senior Country Managers will ensure pavilions have a strong and meaningful content.
- Senior Country Managers are responsible for ensuring that opportunities in participant countries are identified that would contribute to the UAE’s international relations and global positioning.
- Senior Country Managers will front face the Expo 2020 Dubai’s ‘one-stop shop’ system, which will allow a smooth process for countries participation. Senior Country Managers will actively utilise the Expo engine behind them to support a country’s progress in participation but will continue to be the face of Expo to that country.
- Senior Country Managers report their technical and operational progress to Directors, who provide them with daily guidance on how to move the operational discussion along at any particular moment.
- Senior Country Managers alert Directors and SVPs to any and all political or sensitive matters that are non-technical that arise, for senior management guidance and action, as necessary.
Skills 7+ years' experience as well as:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in International Relations, Political Science, International Business, International Management, other Social Sciences or Linguistics..
- Strong communication skills in the language of preference to the country as well as in English, both written and oral.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strength and interest in an operational role.
- Knowledge of international affairs.
- Maintain a pro-active relationship with all stakeholders, internal and external.
- A professional etiquette.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity and a strong commitment to teamwork and following senior management guidance.
- Time management, planning skills and the ability to set and meet deadlines.
