About the Role We are currently looking for Legal Counsel to support the Al Futtaim Group in all Litigation and Corporate legal work by giving accurate and timely counsel to Senior Leadership on a variety of legal topics.
About the Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility of the jobholder is Arbitration and international law
- To work independently and be fully accountable for compiling information for court cases and/or external council as required to a very high standard
- Conduct legal research; finding laws or similar court decisions related to pending cases; interpreting laws or legislation; explaining government laws or regulations; analyzing data, legal questions and existing evidence or facts; writing legal documents
- Provide expert advice and support to team members (Legal Counsel)
- Ensure compliance by the Group companies with all relevant laws and regulations and will be responsible for outsourcing legal services and liaising with external counsels as and when necessary.
- Giving accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)
- Collaborating with management to devise efficient legal strategies
- Manage the litigation process from start to finish to protect and advocate the Company's legal positions
- Specifying internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
- Apply effective risk managements techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.) creating relations of trust
- Promptly report litigation as required by supervisor, senior management and risk management and prepare necessary reports as requested
- Refine and further develop corporate wide systems, technologies, processes and procedures for the identification and cost efficient management of litigation and litigation-related risk
- Assist the business with identifying appropriate remedial and preventative actions to prevent a reoccurrence and to understand trends and to analyse and report on such trends
About the Requirements Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Professional legal qualification from a reputed/accredited university
Minimum Experience: - 5 years + corporate legal experience with minimum 3+ years in private practice
- 3 years + litigation experience, arbitration and international law
- Added advantage of M&A experience
- Middle East region experience
Job-Specific Skills:
- Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
- Outstanding communication skills
