Job Description - Drive the trading desk including the middle office and the back office
- Manage and execute orders with due care and accountability
- Engage in buying and selling bonds, stocks, futures, hedge fund shares and commodities (cross asset trading) on electronic networks and completing required paperwork
- Executing trades and securing deals with new counterparty
- Design potential strategies related to trading and determine a course of action that needs to be taken
- Recommend ideas and suggestions in order to improve the present algorithms or help in the creation of new ones
- Constantly monitor and review the transactions to verify the accuracy and ensure that they are in conformance with the rules and regulations of the governing organizations
- Assist in creating a framework to ensure appropriate oversight and supervision is being conducted across trading ops.
- Obtaining market prices from market-making traders
- Keeping market-making traders informed of relevant issues
- Communicate and build quality relationships with market participants.
- Research and resolve issues in trading area.
- Conduct extensive research and making observations concerning the performance of financial markets and individual securities
- Provide portfolio management including ongoing monitoring for compliance and analyzing key performance and industry indicators
- Improve risk indicators and metrics, perform incident analysis, increase awareness and instill ownership and accountability
- Gathering information and analyzing the market (equity screening for business development)
- Identify trading opportunities across market spectrums with the ability to put capital to work
- Synthesize findings, develop independent and fact-based investment recommendation across multiple markets and articulate recommendations to senior management
- Keep up with the financials of various target companies for acquisitions, mergers and offerings.
- Aid in the settlement process
- Identifying issues affecting deals
- Analyze the reporting process suggest solutions for creating efficiencies in producing reporting as well as developing new or additional reporting that may be more relevant as company requirements change.
- Create financial models and communicate key variables and risks with the team
- Supervise morning/evening market reports
- Assist as needed with other assignments
- Maintain and document activity.
Preferred Qualifications - BA/BS degree required
- 3+ years of trading and operations experience
- General market knowledge and related operational practices (1-3 years of demonstrated progressive experience at minimum).
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Attention to detail/high level of accuracy is critical in this position and is a must
- Risk awareness and strict attention to procedural adherence a must.
- Team player capable of working with different team members at various levels
- Ability to handle deadlines, stress and time sensitive situations
- Technically proficient
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Understanding of applicable regulatory issues and general regulatory landscape
- Familiarity with portfolio modeling strategies preferred
