The role An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Legal Editor to join our Marketing team.
The legal editor will be part of the Marketing team and will work closely with the legal editing committee in reviewing, editing and proof reading articles for Law Update and company website. This individual is expected to ensure articles comply with the firm’s house style (being Oxford University Press) and to provide suggestions regarding style and readability, and should be able to work independently with the help of the legal editing committee.
Law Update is the firm’s client magazine providing the latest legal news and developments in the Middle East and one of the leading marketing tools for the firm. It is published 10 times a year, with 2 bi-monthly editions that run in June/July and December/January. It presents an average of 30 articles, accumulating to 80 pages, per edition and is distributed in hardcopy to our regional clients and in digital format to our global clients.
Skills and experience Ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Legal background/ qualified lawyer/PSL
- Minimum two years’ experience in proofreading and editing strongly desired.
- Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to work independently while also participating cooperatively in a team environment
- Knowledge of correct spelling, English usage, syntax, punctuation, and grammatical rules required.
- Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, and changing work priorities.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and remotely
- Must possess Microsoft Office Skills
