This is in-depth leadership and supervisory position with full life cycle senior level skilled work assignments managing a specialized recreation activity, program and/or directing the activities in support of community/senior centers operations. Supervision of other part-time employees or volunteers is involved. Work requires detailed knowledge of multiple programs and is performed with considerable independence under general supervision and reviewed through reports and observation of program effectiveness by Recreation career staff. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. This employment position encompasses several different opportunities located in various locations throughout Montgomery County.
Duties include, but are not limited to, planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating Recreation activities, programs or facility operations in specific categories. Work assignments include ordering supplies, leading and supervising special events activities for groups or small communities; and maintenance of records and operational reports, lift and move tables/chairs as needed and employee may be required to pass the Recreation's van training in order to transport participants. This position develop comprehensive program plans, leads and directs major program components and frequently provides program information and feedback directly to career staff. The employee must obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR training and administer when necessary. Outdoor work in various weather conditions may be required and applicant must be able to lift and move supplies and equipment of significant weight.
Applicant must exercise tact and judgment to ensure participant safety and discipline, and to develop and maintain good relations with the participants and the community, who may be of diverse ages, cultural and ethnic groups, and socio-economic levels. Applicant must successfully pass a criminal background investigation. This investigation will include a State, Federal and Sexual Offender Background check. In addition, applicants hired to work at a summer camp program will be required to undergo a child protective services background check.
Availability: Must be able to work shift hours. Applicants hired to work at a summer camp program must be able to work the entire summer.
The hourly rate for this SEASONAL TEMPORARY position is $20.72

Minimum Qualifications Experience: Six-thousand two hundred forty (6,240) hours (three (3) years) of relevant work experience as an instructor or supervisor in one or more specialized recreation activities.
Education: Completion of two (2) years of college (60 credits).
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
