Interdisciplinary Genetic Epidemiologist - Assistant Professor of Biobehavioral Health The successful candidate must have a research program examining the role of genetics/genes in population-based biobehavioral health-relevant processes and/or outcomes. Programs that include consideration of how sex and or gender might moderate health outcomes are preferred. We particularly welcome applicants with experience integrating a range of biological, behavioral, and psychosocial data and/or methods (e.g., endocrinology/immunology, environmental influences, behavioral interventions, sociocultural interactions). Areas of interest germane to health that are likely to promote and enhance collaborative interdisciplinary research within the department will also be viewed as a strength. The scholarship and teaching of BBH faculty focuses on how biological, behavioral, psychological, sociocultural, and environmental variables interact to influence health. Departmental research examines (but is not limited to) physiological processes; health behaviors; genetics and epigenetics; chronic disease; neuroscience; global health; psychological states and processes; environmental exposures; bioethics; health disparities; and public health and prevention sciences. This position will build on the growing strength of the department's biobehavioral health research expertise to promote and enhance a vibrant, rigorous, and interdisciplinary research environment that aims to improve individual and community health. The responsibilities of the position are to establish or continue a fundable line of interdisciplinary biobehavioral health research, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise student research, and provide service to the Department, College, and University. Applicants should have a strong record of scholarly health-related research in genetic epidemiology commensurate with their experience, and show excellent potential to establish external research funding. A Doctorate in epidemiology, genetics, biostatistics, neuroscience, behavioral science, biology, psychology, sociology, public health, or a related field is required. Opportunity exists for the candidate to affiliate with institutes at Penn State such as the Prevention Research Center, Population Research Institute, the Social Science Research Institute, the Huck Institute of Life Sciences, the Penn State Cancer Institute, and the Institute for Cyberscience.
