2. JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for managing supplier relationships. Manages orders and monitors production cycle to ensure successful fulfillment of contracts. Communicates changes in production status or concerns with management.
4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives
- Have knowledge on Fabrication jobs and basic knowledge in reading drawings.
- Places orders
- Administers basic procurement functions such as maintaining and developing more than one source of supply, and suggests changes or adjustments in quantities to take advantage of price breaks and trends
- Participates in initiatives that will reduce the length of the supply chain, improve fill rates, and optimize inventory
- Manage the system recommended messages
- Regularly update the delivery schedules from vendors
- Regularly update order minimums and order multiples in the system
- Keep the Planning Manager aware of changes in delays at work centers and/or routers that would affect the lead time of the part so that the system can be kept up-to-date
- Perform other work related tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Have a general overview of the National Oilwell Varco Quality program
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE procedures and policies
Qualifications: 7. QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Qualification - Engineering Degree or equivalent education and experience
Experience - 1 to 2 years related experience required
Skill & Competencies
- Association for Operations Management (APICS) Certification preferred
- Understanding of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) and inventory control
- Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials
- Ability to use manufacturing database spreadsheets and word processor applications
