Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking to recruit a competent Construction Manager to join the Duqm Refinery team. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of the assigned Construction team members. The primary role of the function is to ensure that all aspects of construction, completions, commissioning, and the handover work scope is being effectively performed by the EPC contractors. The EPC construction aspects of the contract is being completed in accordance with customer stipulated standards. All EPC work scopes are being performed under the safety, quality standards and expectations set by the client, and Wood.
Promote HSE awareness and ensure that all customer / Wood HSES requirements are implemented and adhered to
Provide effective and practical construction input into the various phases of the EPC project to ensure constructability aspects of project execution are adequately considered via the construction team
Ensure that construction hazards and risks are fully considered and that the appropriate mitigation actions are implemented during the project execution phase
Coordinate with all project stakeholders, especially with the customer, to facilitate project execution with minimum disruption and hazard to personnel and ongoing operations via the various EPC package construction teams
Ensure that the PMC construction team maintains efficient and effective communications between the Contractor and PMC and all contract reporting requirements are achieved
Provide notification of any potential commercial risk or opportunity to the Project Manager for further action
Develop close working relationships between all assigned construction team members and the HSES team to provide a consistent approach and effective resolution of issues, and encourage the same degree of cooperation within the Contractor organization
Develop a good team spirit within assigned PMC personnel and encourage team working with the Contractor and other customer groups
Ensure that construction teams are maintaining quality at an acceptable level, including completion of all records and tests; thus, ensuring that pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities are achieved
Skills / Qualifications Degree in relevant area
Minimum 20 years’ experience
Minimum 5 years in similar position
Leadership and Team Building Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Experience in PMC / EPC Organization in Refinery / Petrochemical Industries and have managed major project(s) of value not less than USD $500 million each
