Responsibilities - The Electrical Designer will be expected to apply engineering and design knowledge and experience to perform routine layout, design, and checking duties for petrochemical, chemical, refinery and LNG facilities through the various engineering work phases (i.e. studies, conceptual design, FEED packages, and detailed engineering).
- In this role, the Electrical Designer will be checking diagrams, drawings, calculations (other than design and/or approved standards) for accuracy, completeness and/or conformance to flow or circuit diagrams or other approved design release documents, related data and coordination with other work. The designer will be expected to be able to check their own work for practicality from the standpoint of fabrication, installation or maintenance.
- The Electrical Designer will also develop CAD drawings, designs and solutions for problems. Types of drawings include: One-line Diagrams; Grounding Drawings; Lighting Plan and detail drawings; Conduit and cable routing plan and detail drawings; Cable Tray Routing; Motor schematic and wiring diagrams; and panel drawings.
Skills / Qualifications - Qualified candidates must possess an Associate’s degree and/or post high school training in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD).
- In addition to education, candidates should have at least 5 years of electrical design/drafting experience.
- Fully competent and knowledgeable about design/drafting principles and practices with comprehensive in-depth knowledge in applicable area(s) of specialization.
- Candidates should be proficient with 2D CAD (computer-aided drawing - release 12 or later) and should possess 3D CAD capability.
- Candidates should have knowledge and experience of: industrial facility design; understand basics of motor control; the National Electric Code; Other discipline drawings (Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) Civil/ Structural drawings, Instrument drawings); industrial grounding practices; industrial lighting design and installation practice.
- Flexible with respect to work, location and timing
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills
