Job Description

Position Overview:

The Sr. Plant Accountant supports our Ohio manufacturing locations in Bellevue, Columbus and New Albany, OH and will be located in New Albany, Ohio. The key activities of the position include the following items:

• Support all general accounting, cost accounting, and fixed asset activities
• Analyze and support reporting on financial and operational results
• Assist in the preparation of periodic financial plans, forecasts and outlooks
• Provide direct support to plant controllers and plant management teams in a variety of financial, accounting and operational areas
• Support and maintain internal controls functions of the plant
• Maintain intercompany relationships with other operating locations and offices

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Management / Analysis:

• Provide financial support to plant controllers and core management team members
• Assist in the preparation of financial analysis to monitor spending in key areas (labor, scrap, spending, inventory, etc.)
• Monitor and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with division policies and procedures
• Participate and facilitate cost reduction / elimination programs / ideas

Reporting / Accounting:

• Provide support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of plant results (monthly, quarterly, and annually)
• Assist in the development of annual plant budget and periodic forecasts
• Input and review product segment statistical allocations
• Support physical inventory reporting and cycle count analysis
• Prepare various financial models, as appropriate; prepare various account reconciliations
• General ledger maintenance, transactional processing, and journal entry creation

Specific Duties:

• Participate in month-end close activities (create/post journal entries, prepare standard financial and operational reports, analyze operational activities and variances, analyze monthly plant performance)
• Process debit/credit memo transactions and intercompany transfers
• Support the management of fixed asset additions, transfers and disposals and capital expenditure requests.
• Support the analysis of plant labor, scrap, operational spending and inventory transactions for optimal manufacturing levels
• Assist in the preparation of the annual operational budgets and profit projections
• Prepare sales and use and other tax returns as applicable and provide support for federal and state income/property tax returns, as applicable
• Process Freight on a weekly basis and review Freight Payable on a monthly basis
• Other special projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree In Accounting or Finance
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, cost accounting experience a plus
• Functional SAP experience preferred
• Proficiency in Excel and Windows applications
• Strong communication skills - interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Ability to prioritize work, set goals, and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated analytical reasoning and problem solving abilities
• Travel 25% to supporting plants (Bellevue and Columbus, OH)
• Willingness to relocate desired
