SpawGlass, an employee owned commercial general contractor, has an opening in Houston for a project accountant. This position is available in a fast paced, dynamic accounting department with opportunities for advancement.
Position Statement:
The Project Accountant's responsibility is to assist the Project Manager with timely recognition, approval and payment of subcontractors, vendors and suppliers per the specific contract terms. The position also ensures that the monthly owner billing is properly posted and assists the Project Manager with collection efforts.
Principal Responsibilities: - Submits invoice for coding and approval
- Manages invoices received via mail or email daily
- Reviews rejected invoices daily
- Issues payments according to the project contract or invoice terms
- Accrues pending invoices and email list to applicable Project Manager
- Manage lien notification and compliance
- Responsible for reviewing and approving subcontracts
- Manages claims or notices of sub-tier subcontractors, vendors or suppliers
- Posts and uploads copies of owner billing at monthly accounting close
- Closes out all subcontracts and purchase orders
- Promote culture of safety, which takes precedence over all operations
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Essential Functions: - Walking / sitting alternately
- Lifting up to 20 lbs.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferred
- One to three years accounting experience, preferred
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and application of general accounting theory
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and interact with others throughout the organization
- Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
