New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Research Ethics and Governance Administrator reporting to the Assistant Director Research Ethics and Governance.
This role is responsible for managing the administrative processes related to the following areas of research compliance: faculty financial conflict of interest (FCOI) disclosure and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training for students and postdoctoral fellows; and processing of protocol submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Key Responsibilities - Coordinate internal processes and procedures relating to research ethics and governance related to faculty disclosures of financial conflict of interest. Responsible for communications with faculty with regard to FCOI trainings, disclosure deadlines, etc. Manage database of disclosures by conducting initial review of disclosures, and routing those requiring follow-up to the appropriate party. Communicating with Deans’ offices for required follow-up of conflict disclosures. Administrative oversight of the FCOI faculty committee overseeing disposition of those disclosures with significant financial conflict of interest (arranging meetings, corresponding with faculty, etc.)
- Support the Assistant Director and the Senior Research Ethics and Governance Specialist in the administration of the NYUAD Human Research Protection Program including: intake and routing of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol submissions, administrate information management system by archiving materials, updating spreadsheets, and facilitating administrative use of Cayuse, Scheduling workshops/ training for students and faculty, scheduling IRB/REC meetings (e.g. room bookings, catering, etc)
- Administrative management of the RCR training program. Arranging training sessions, and coordinating with other administrative staff to merge existing trainings into the RCR curriculum. Develop a system for tracking student completion of RCR training requirements

- Bachelor’s degree required

- Degree in the social sciences or law
Experience requirements (essential)
- Knowledge of, or ability to develop, sound knowledge of financial conflict of interest regulations, responsible conduct of research curriculum requirements, and human subject research ethics, policies and regulations
- Experience in a university research environment and an understanding of sponsored research processes would be highly beneficial
- Minimum 3-years office experience in an office environment
- Experience in a setting requiring confidentiality and a high level of professional conduct.
- Experience supporting multiple functions and proven track record of successfully managing concurrent duties and assignments
- Experience in database management and file organization
- Ability to function effectively in an area still in “start-up” phase - i.e. where policies and processes require further development
- Ability to interpret, administer and communicate policy and regulatory requirements
- Ability to produce and maintain detailed documentary records
- Sound interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to research and synthesize information, and to develop coherent guidelines and other documents
Experience requirements (desirable)
- Experience in a university setting, dealing with faculty, researchers and/or students
- Knowledge and skill using Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Knowledge and skill using Cayuse research administration software
