PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversees all domestic and international media relations and outreach functions including: developing, planning and strategic oversight of domestic and international public relations to promote the hotel.
- Develops PR strategy for the hotel and implements ongoing, focused media and community relations programs, keeping the hotel’s positioning and brand top of mind.
- Provides leadership and supervision in public relation operations and monitors press outreach, media events, media calls, collateral, crisis communications support and press material development.
- Creates newsworthy promotions and story ideas to include F&B, spa, family, leisure, weddings, group and other topics that are relevant to the hotel.
- Promotes promotions or events.
- Maintains strong media relations with local and regional journalists and pitches hotel efforts. Keeps abreast of consumer and trade media interests in order to better capitalize on opportunities for publicity.
- Responds and serves as a primary spokesperson for media inquiries.
- Reviews and supervises media releases, marketing collaterals, as well as social media and web content produced by staff, agencies and contractors. Manages distribution of media releases.
- Develops and maintains hotel’s media materials and website.
- Creates media personalities within the hotel’s staff – i.e. GM, chefs, concierge, etc. to generate positive exposure for the hotel. Trains staff as needed to appear on camera or be interviewed.
- Stays current on destination promotional efforts, and hosts journalists at the hotel when appropriate.
- Develops relationships with organizations and businesses within key markets that support and enhance PR efforts.
- Liaises with onsite contacts about media visits and requests.
- Manages all media enquiries, press visits and onsite productions.
- Monitors all forms of media (TV, radio, online, social media and print), reports on media mentions and shares best media coverage.
- Becomes an advocate of the company by nurturing relationships with key influencers in the community to maximize reach of local PR.
- Provides communications counsel to senior management, helping to enhance the hotel's success by applying proactive and reactive communications strategy, including crisis communications.
- Responsible for media relations in the event of a crisis at the hotel. Prepares and keeps crisis plan current.
- Promotes positive relations with guests and employees.
- Attends designated trade shows whenever required to promote the hotel’s image.
- Produces a monthly report on a timely basis for the general manager and corporate office.
- Appraises the performance of Communication personnel in managerial level periodically according to Human Resources’ policy and initiates appropriate corrective measures to improve deficiencies.
- Manages the department to ensure sufficiency of manpower in accordance to volume of business.
- Develops and maintains departmental budget.
- Works closely with Marketing and Operations teams to provide strategic counsel and input.
- Acts as Manager on Duty or assigns appropriate executives to be on duty when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
REPORTING LINE & COMMUNICATION
- Reports to Director of Sales & Marketing.
- Liaises with prestigious travel consumers and corporate travel and meeting planners, hotel guests, advertising agencies, trade magazine representatives, bloggers, media representatives and community leaders.

JOB REQUIREMENTS - Minimum education of Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Mass Communications or relevant discipline.
- At least 7 years of public relations (PR) or communication experience with a proven track record in a fast-paced environment. Hotel industry experience a strong plus.
- Possess the ability to establish strong media and social connections.
- Ability to integrate PR programs to support marketing goals and programs; able to perform within an integrated team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
