Department Description
The Treasury Services department evaluates and implements best practices in cash, debt, and treasury management; plans and executes external financing to meet the University's (or Foundation's) funding needs; manages and coordinates the University's banking relationships; leads and assists in the evaluation of banking services; provides financial analysis and modeling on internal operations and special projects assigned by the Senior Assistant Vice Chancellor for Finance and Treasurer; and, partners with UNC Management Company on special projects related to the management of a portion of the University's operating cash and related short-term investment considerations.

Position Description The primary purpose of this position is to account for the formal financing activity of the University in its financial records systems. This purpose covers a variety of tasks and broad scope of activities that include a high degree of time, detail, and deadlines, in conjunction with activities that expose the University to significant financial, headline, and reputational risk.
The position of Treasury Accountant will provide exclusive leadership and hold the primary responsibility for all activities dealing with the accounting, reconciling, and otherwise financially recorded transactions associated with the University's debt program.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bacheloregree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associateegree in accounting; or Associateegree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and GASB requirements.
- Strong computer skills including proven advanced Excel experience.
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Ability to digest complicated financial information and practices.
- Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Accounting degree and/or CPA certification.
- Five (5) plus years of accounting experience.
- Experience with bonds and/or bond accounting.
- University financial experience.
- Other computer experience including Access, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
