Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks an Analyst, General Accounting (Accounts Receivable Accountant) to work at our Huntsville, AL location.
Under general supervision, the Accounts Receivable Accountant performs professional assignments where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. This individual will provide accurate and timely cash receipt application, excellent customer service to internal and external customers and perform month-end accounting close activities. Independent, self-motivated individual with strong organization skills and attention to detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
70% - Prepares project billing for government contracts. Reviews and understands basic contract documents and accounting memos as it relates to billing requirements. Ensures all billings are done accurately and timely. Works with contract managers to determine the proper monthly billings based on the progress of each contract and contract requirements.
20% - Prepares final contract close-out billings and pre-final billings for contracts with cancelling funds. Serves as a liaison between Business Management and Contract management. Ensures compliance with company policies, directives and work procedures including government contract accounting and project billings. Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
10% - Provides support to companyxternal and internal auditors. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements Requires Bacheloregree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting or Finance and 3 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Some travel will be required for training and annual all-hands meetings.
Desired Qualifications: - Experience with transactional accounting and billing experience in a Federal Government contractor environment.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and proficiency in using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
- Attention to detail and ability to perform general finance functions needed.
- Oracle billing experience preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
