Job summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing Finance & Accounting. While this job description identifies the major responsibilities of this position, it does not include all potential duties that may be assigned or needed for the efficient operation of Company
Oversee and support all financial management and accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable, financial and cash flow management, general ledger, payroll, financial reporting, banking practices, investments, monitoring of capital assets, and annual audit process
Prepare and monitor all financial transactions including bank statement reconciliation & monthly financial statements
Plan, assign and review staff s work
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Assist in generating monthly and annual budgets by providing prior year numbers, forecasting future revenues and expenses, and working with Leadership Team to ensure accurate and effective planning
Assist with tax audits and tax returns
In conjunction with President, develop and monitor annual budgets. Effectively communicate budget process with department management to control expenses
Prepare financial analysis and data for Leadership Team to track and report financial activities
Conduct research and prepare financial reports; produce monthly balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and conduct cost benefit analysis to identify best use of resources
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Support month-end and year-end close process
Reconcile balance sheet accounts
Conduct regular ledger maintenance
Establish and maintain appropriate internal control environment, systems, policies and procedures to ensure resources are strategically leveraged to support the organization mission
Prepare for annual and other fiscal audits. Act as a liaison with auditors to provide materials necessary to complete audits. Manage relations with external auditors, other financial consultants and advisors
Ensure that all federal and state tax/compliance filings are completed accurately and filed on a timely basis
Analyze and administer insurance and benefit plans through outside vendors to ensure quality and cost effectiveness. Ensure administration adheres to ERISA, ACA and IRS requirements.
Oversee relationships with insurance brokers and vendors, and oversee solicitation of insurance proposals. Recommend insurance policies and levels
All other duties as assigned by President and Chief Executive Officer
Requirements Position Requirements Must be a skilled professional with strong accounting background, prior experience managing financial resources; requires a strong working knowledge of accounting systems; financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, cash flow and insurance management.
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks
Accuracy and attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
In-Depth understanding g Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Accuracy and attention to detail
Familiarity with financial accounting statements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role or 5 plus in general/tax accounting
Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills
Proficient knowledge of MS Office, Accounting software
Proven ability to work and effectively manage a diverse staff
Requires an individual who is capable of defining a project goal, formulating the management plan, identifying and utilizing the necessary resources, and implementing planned action. Examples of project management might include software conversions and enhancements, training manuals, hardware acquisition, revisions to financial systems.
Work with senior teams to grow the businesses formulating strategies and plans
Lead and develop finance teams
Lead and manage the budgeting process
Overall cash management on an ongoing basis
Formulation of annual budgets and targets
Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems
Preparation and submission of weekly and monthly updates
Presentation of annual accounts with recommendations
Review of accounts and investigation of variances then setting recovery plans
Banking matters
Capital expenditure evaluation and preparation of submissions
Insurance/ risk management
Setting annual cost rates and prices for customers
Close involvement in commercial negotiations with customers
Ensuring that the regulatory requirements are met
