Applications are invited for the position of L&D Specialist (Food Safety).
L&D Specialist (Food Safety) role reports into Senior HR Manager – L&D.
This position plan, develop, deliver and facilitate a comprehensive range of learning and development programs for business units across the company. This role will be also gauge the effectiveness of various learning & development solutions, offered to business, by conducting pre and post training evaluation of employees and programs that facilitate the acquisition of a range of Technical (Mandatory & Compliance) and soft skills. The key measurement of success will be the ability to demonstrate value addition (development) to the business through effective implementation of Learning and Development initiatives.
Key Accountabilities A. Safety
- Ensure compliance to all health and safety policies through correct identification of health and safety standards in business requirements and contract documents.
- Comply with all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across all spend responsibility to guarantee employee safety, delivery of high quality products/ service and a responsible environmental attitude.
B. Leadership – Engaged Workforce
- Proactively consult with business units to determine required training needs and develop range of training and development programs that will meet the needs and objectives of the business in an effective and efficient manner.
- Effectively engage with departments to plan and prioritise learning and development activities.
C. Profit Maximisation
- Proactively suggest & build cost effective & user-friendly in-house learning and development solutions, tools and applications such as Quizdom, Taleem (LMS) etc. which are beneficial and effective for business operations.
- Provide input to the design of programs to leverage “Train the Trainer” models and blended learning approaches to maximise effectiveness.
- Accurately and effectively measure and communicate ROI of various learning solutions offered to the business and utilize relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend appropriate changes in instructional objectives & method.
D. Business Development
- Stay current on new/innovative practices and trends in the field of learning & development.
- Implement creative learning & development strategies for effective engagement and involvement of participants such as, interactive activities, questionnaires and classroom assessment.
E. Operational Excellence
- Conduct training need analysis (TNA) and develop new learning and development solutions or modify and improve existing solutions to meet the business objectives.
- Evaluate & review the quality and effectiveness of learning & development opportunities, by conducting periodic assessment of Learning and Development programs and participants, and recommend & implement changes if required
- Ensure the accurate, current and systematic maintenance of the training records, testing sheets, process control documentation and assist in the standardization of design of manuals, certificates and training material such as worksheets, hand-outs, etc.
- Conduct Post Training Assessments and on the Job evaluation to check participants’ understanding of the learning attained and the level of implementation in their job roles and performance.
- Utilise learning and development platform to promote awareness of the company core values, Health and safety standards, professional culture and required competencies in employee roles and responsibilities.
F. Customer
- Prepare, analyse and present periodical reports /KPI’s on the effectiveness of the learning & development solutions offered to business and take corrective action as appropriate.
- Build and maintain close working relationships with departments to ensure learning and development function adds value in the best possible way.
- Regularly communicate to business units the performance trends of the various learning and development initiatives. Suggest trends, resulting implications and ensure key actions are taken.
- Responsible for delivery of food safety knowledge required by food handlers to reduce food complaints and the risk of food poisoning.
Requirements and Competencies
Qualifications: - Masters/Bachelor’s Degree in Science related to Food Technology or Food Safety.
- Professional Qualifications in Learning & Development is essential.
- Person In-Charge (PIC) – Level 3 Train-the-Trainer certification is mandatory
- Valid certification and approval from Dubai Municipality to conduct Food Safety Level 1, 2, 3 and PIC training.

- Strong knowledge of Food Safety Standards and Guidelines.
Experience: - Minimum 6 years of training experience in Food Safety Courses.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in Food Production unit as per Dubai Municipality regulations.
