A. RELATIONSHIPS

The Machinist reports to the Machine Shop Charge-hand.

B. AUTHORITY WITHIN DEPARTMENT

C. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be proficient in the use of all machine tools and to carry out the basic repair and maintenance of machines and associated tooling.
• To ensure that any measuring equipment used is calibrated report any discrepancies to a supervisor immediately.
• To machine parts in the way that issued drawings specify or as recommended by the Supervisor.
• To work in an orderly fashion keeping benches, work areas and machines tidy and cleaning up each area after use.
• Correctly fill in a daily time sheet and return it to the Supervisor at the end of each week.
• Notify the Supervisor of any machine or tooling problems, which could jeopardise an operation.
• To engage in any other activities requested by the Machine Shop Charge-hand.

D. QUALITY ASSURANCE

• To produce goods to a high standard of quality and in accordance with the relevant Quality Assurance procedures/departmental works instructions.
• To ensure that the goods being produced are right first time and fit for the purpose intended prior to passing to the QC Department for inspection.
• Recommend new ideas for improving the quality of products and services.

E. TRAINING

To actively participate in training as identified.

F. SAFETY

• Take reasonable care of their own safety.
• Consider the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or emissions.
• Work in accordance with information, training & instruction provided.
• Refrain from intentionally misusing or recklessly interfering with anything that has been provided for health, safety and environmental reasons.

. Report any hazardous defects in plant and equipment, or shortcomings in the existing safety controls, to a Supervisor without delay.

. Not undertake any task for which authorisation and/or training has not been given.

. Report all accidents, incidents and hazardous situations to a Supervisor.

. Stop work immediately if you have any concerns over the task and discuss with a Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years' experience as a CNC machinist with CNC lathe operations. (Preferably on Mazak machines)

The candidate should be flexible for working day and night shift as and when needed.

The candidate technical qualification relevant to machining.

The candidate should be able to read and understand technical drawings.

The candidate should be able to use inspection measuring tools. i.e. vernier caliper

The candidate should be able to install Min. 50 pounds heavy job pieces onto the machines.

The candidate should be clearly able to communicate in English language Oil and Gas
