An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Banquet & Events Manager to be part of the pre-opening team at this newly opening luxury 5 *property. The main purpose of this position is to actively contribute to the successful achievement of hotel’s goals of High Standard Quality Guest Service.
Key responsibilities A Banquet & Events Manager is directly responsible for the operations within the Event/Banquet Department.
He/she is integral in linking all facets of the execution phases of the event/banquet operations and then delivering these to guests.
He/she must be able to control and co-ordinate a labour pool of many and varied backgrounds.
He/she will have a majority of casual labour and hence it is essential to have quality staff management skills.
One should be creative and confident and be prepared to step outside of the confines of comfort
He/she should take the time to get to know the guests and be committed to service excellence.
Team play is imperative and having the time to invest in self and employee development is mandatory.
Being entrepreneurial, thinking beyond the boundaries and leading by example are expected and not requested.
Have knowledge of the hotels budgeting, strategic planning and marketing plan
Be a strategist on how revenue streams can be developed
Ensure that all Movenpick Hotels & Resorts standards are adhered to
Create new revolutionary standards
Keep ahead of industry trends (you should set the trends rather than follow)
Liaise with the Catering Sales Manager, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and the Executive Chef to create new and varied solutions for event planning and execution
Be aware of what of the premier external competitors in the market
Directly work with all employees to create a flow of new and ‘improved’ ideas
Responsible for all Event/Banquet operations to ensure a smooth, quality driven and profitable operation
Maintain quality operations both internally and on an external catering platform
Ensure awareness and deliver the optimum levels of service and guest satisfaction
Attaining and maintaining the sanitation (HACCP or similar) certificates as required by the regional governing body
Ensure all hotel property and facilities are maintained an in an optimal working order
Nurture and develop business and local relationships
Assist in the co-ordination of purchases to maintain adequate operational supplies. This includes food and beverage crockery, linen etc.
Responsible for setting par levels for all operating supplies
Liaises with Engineering to ensure all operating equipment is in good working order
Key requirements a. posses at least three (3) years of experience in a similar role (preferably in a five (5) star property) in Dubai
b. must have a pre-opening experience in a similar role
c. an excellent team player
d. has a high degree of ‘emotional intelligence’, remains rational and calm under pressure and is open-minded and excited by cultural and professional diversity.
