Summary Intermediate level accounting professional that under limited supervision, supports and guides corporate functional departments with all aspects of financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis. The position will be responsible for the more complex areas of accounting that require technical expertise and the application of sound judgement, often in support of strategic business initiatives. In addition, the position will play a lead role in facilitating cross-functional continuous improvement and transformation initiatives within the back-office environment. This position will work closely with departmental interns and accountants, occasionally in a supervisory capacity.
Education Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
Responsibilities - Assists in day-to-day maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger and in preparing basic financial reports.
- Prepares journal entries.
- Reconciles, balances and closes general ledger accounts.
- Audits contract terms, orders, and vouchers.
- Prepares reports to substantiate transactions prior to settlement.
- Assists in gathering and reviewing budget/forecast data and information.
- Assists in gathering and reviewing asset data and information.
- Monitors inventory progression and levels.
- Assists with operational and financial audits (Sarbanes Oxley).
- Researches and corrects accounting discrepancies, analyzes invoicing, accounts payable and credit and collections, bank statements.
- Prepares basic internal and external management/financial reports.
- Prepares written summaries of statistical summaries on findings for more senior accountant review.
- Provides tax data and information to tax department.
- Assists with classifying expenses as direct and indirect costs.
- Assists in documenting simple to moderate financial planning, modeling and analysis projects.
- Assists with preparing or reviewing simple Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and post CAR completion reviews.
- Assists with preparing and consolidating a wide range of operating and financial projections for the development of both short-term and long-term business plans.
- Performs plant visits to review and discuss financial statements, profit sharing, SOX compliance, capital projects and general operations support.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Experience - Strong technology/software skills - accounting packages, documents and spreadsheet. Prefer Oracle Financial, JD Edwards, Hyperion experience
- Certified Public Accountant prefered
- 3-5 Years of accounting/finance work experience
- Strong understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Intermediate understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Standards (SOX)
