Job Description Summary: Direct and coordinate activities of café server attendants and baristas and engage in providing courteous and rapid service to customers by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Execute guest service duties in accordance with Forbes/AAA inspection standards and Broadmoor Standards of Excellence
- Oversee daily operations in Café
- Greet guests in a friendly and timely manner with a smile, proper English and correct posture.
- Emphasize service standards and policies through ongoing training of staff.
- Review financial transactions and monitor budget to ensure efficient operation, and to ensure expenditures stay within budget limitations.
- Monitor payroll expenditures.
- Prepare weekly staff schedules.
- Conduct performance appraisals in a timely manner.
- Carry out disciplinary actions in a fair and progressive manner.
- Obtain items requested by customers or receive items selected by customers.
- Prepare beverages requested by customers quickly and confidently, maintain a thorough knowledge of coffee drinks.
- Answer customer's questions concerning merchandise and helpfully discuss ingredients, preparation methods and potential allergy triggers of products offered.
- Observe customers to anticipate guest needs and respond to any additional requests.
- Document any guest or staff related happenings from the shift in the supervisor log.
- Complete time and attendance sheets daily.
- Investigate and resolve food quality or service complaints.
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with products.
- Sets up advertising displays or arrange products on counters or tables to promote sales.
- Make sure prices displayed are correct in computer.
- Total price and tax on products purchased by customer, accept payment and make change.
- Complete night audit reports daily at the end of the shift, and report tips as required by IRS.
- Keep record of sales, prepare inventory of stock, and order products daily.
- Order bakery and sandwich items weekly, and monitor their sale levels daily.
- Make sure opening and closing procedures are completed according to the side-work manual.
- Make sure storage areas are clean, well-stocked and secured.
- Call Engineering to report mechanical problems/repairs needed.
- Conduct monthly Food and Beverage/Retail inventory.
- Hold or actively participate in monthly departmental meetings.
- Follow Broadmoor safety and hygiene standards.
- Follow the directions of the Café Julies Manager and Assistant Manager.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Moderate to advanced computer skills are required.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Payroll, Order Processing, Inventory Software
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise 6-14 employees in Café Julie's and no more than 5 employees per shift. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, or exposure to cold (non-weather)/ heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
