BlackRock Data Services (BDS) is a centralized data group dedicated to ensuring that all information required for the investment management process including positions, security data, pricing, risk, cash, net asset value (NAV), performance and compliance are delivered consistently, accurately and on a timely basis. As part of BlackRock Data Services, the Pricing Group is responsible for the collection and validation of market prices for all assets and liabilities held in managed portfolios, as well as for the distribution of those prices to accounting agents and custodians, where appropriate. Responsibilities also include oversight of third-party accounting agents and custodian security pricing methodologies for proprietary commingled products, as well as daily verification of OTC derivative valuations. In addition, the team collects a wide range of market data including FX rates, interest rates, inflation levels, mortgage data and volatility data.
This role requires active management with all parties as well as crafting and delivering on the vision for BDS and our clients across APAC. You will be required to advocate the use of technology to craft innovative solutions to meet the challenges of a changing workplace.
Responsibilities: - Lead a team of 4 professionals and be accountable in our valuation data in APAC.
- Provide leadership to the broader Enterprise Data team in Singapore.
- Drive strategic automation efforts and keep pace with a dynamic client atmosphere.
- Chair, provide thought leadership, and drive resolution at cross-disciplinary Valuation Committee meetings
- Lead all aspects of outsourced operations teams in the region that provide support to BlackRock’s global book of business.
- Spearhead discussions with regulators, auditors on all related content.
- Liaise with market vendors and service providers to ensure best practice in pricing and valuation.
- Be a great partner with internal stakeholders and meaningful project teams to assist in the completion of projects.
- Provide management and leadership to regional, global and cross-functional teams
- Analyze systems and processes to find efficiencies and improve accuracy and timeliness of data delivery.
- Ensure issues or process failures are investigated and raised on time to ensure deliverable(s) meet their deadlines
Qualifications: - Candidate must have the skills and able to strive in an ambitious, fast paced and collaborative environment
- Candidate will be part of a global leadership team, and must have flexibility regarding work hours
- A college/university degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and social skills, agile critical thinking and a problem-solving attitude to enable effective interaction with clients
- Knowledge of Python, Jupyter, Notes, SQL, Unix commands is preferred.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg, Reuters, Interactive Data, and MS Office Suite, etc. is important
- Candidate should have at least 10 years’ experience working in a similar role.
- Candidates should have a “Student of the Markets” attitude: Intellectually curious with a passion for learning about the global financial markets and the asset management business.
- Validated ability to work autonomously and build positive relationships with internal and external partners including data vendors and fund administrators
- Willing to travel periodically including working offsite at service providers
- Practical knowledge of fixed income, equity and derivative instruments.
- Consistent track record of managing global teams across multiple regions.
