You will work in the Waste and Resource Management Department to review and enhance existing policies, programmes and projects on managing priority waste streams (i.e. e-waste, food waste, plastic & packaging waste) in Singapore. You will also be expected to formulate new policies, develop and implement waste strategies for the industrial and commercial sector and support infrastructural development of waste management facilities to fulfil Singapore's vision of moving towards becoming a Zero Waste Nation.
You will be responsible for the following: » Review global and local landscapes for sustainable waste management strategies and technologies
» Develop and implement plans for priority waste streams i.e. e-waste, food waste and packaging & plastic waste
» Develop plans for industrial and commercial sectors to adopt sustainable waste management practices
» Facilitate and organise stakeholder discussions, engagements and consultations
» Review performance of emerging regulated waste management system (e.g. producers' responsibility, product stewardship, waste reporting) and recommend enhancements
» Work on the required legislative amendments for emerging regulated waste management system
» Participate in waste management infrastructure planning and development projects
» Administer programmes such as the Singapore Packaging Agreement and national voluntary partnership for e-waste recycling
» Coordinate and implement activities tasked by inter-ministry committees and its working groups
» Other tasks as assigned
Requirements » Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical and Environmental Engineering preferred. candidates with degree in other engineering fields but with 1 - 2 years of practice in solid waste management and sustaincapability will also be considered.
