Job description: JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Manager/adjunct Director will support and coordinate a large academic and research program in the Retina Department in SNEC and SERI, directly supporting the Professor and Head, Medical Retinal Department, SNEC and Head, Retina Research Group, SERI as well as Director, Administration, Research Affairs and Support Services, SERI. The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to help plan, support, develop, and manage a new NMRC-funded $25 million Large Collaborative Grant (OF-LCG) focused on a major retinal disease, and led by Head, Medical Retina Department and Head, Retina Research Group. Additional responsibilities include, but is not limited to, developing academic collaboration nationally and internationally, supporting the hosting of the international Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), hosting of international forums and meetings for investigators, liaison and collaboration with industry, and related projects and programs.
His /her areas of responsibilities will encompass the following areas:
» Strategic planning, project development and management of the $25M LCG
» Track and manage specific projects and program in the LCG; and ensure that they are meeting necessary conditions e.g. deliverables, milestones, timelines and budget
» Identify issues and when needed proposes strategies to implement contingencies to ensure overall program goals are met
» Grants management: budget, resource management and submission of reports to the grant funding agency
» Industry engagement – Develop and foster relationships with various institutions in Singapore to facilitate industry collaborations
» Negotiation and management of agreements with industry
» Partner the finance department, funding bodies, local and international collaborators in ensuring grant, project budgets matters are effectively addressed.
» Assist International Office at SNEC/SERI which supervises all international activities, to organize and align all the strategies to promote international relations and branding.
» Coordinate and engage various internal and external partners and stakeholders
» Secretariat to LCG group and follow up to meeting Requirement:
» Masters’ degree or equivalent in Life Sciences or related field, but preferably PhD;
» At least 3-5 years of related working practice in healthcare/research environment in Universities, Research Institutes and Hospitals
» knowledge and practice in the local clinical/healthcare sector: processes, operations of hospital, grant funding and management
» Prior practice in dealing with industry partners and collaborators.
» Strong project management practice
» Excellent written and verbal communication expertise and good leadership abilities and interpersonal expertise are mandatory pre-requisites
» Other criteria:
» Resourcefulness, well-organized and detailed-oriented
» capability to multi-task and manage several projects concurrently
» Self-starter, independent and self-driven
» Passion for, and commitment to; improving the treatment of patients in Singapore and developing the local healthcare system.
» Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and related software
