Key Responsibilities As a Data Engineer, your assignments and projects will typically include:
- Develop algorithms / scripts for Bunker Performance Monitoring and Optimization of Maersk Fleet.
- Maintenance of existing Bunker Performance monitoring algorithms / scripts including debugging and improvements.
- Evaluation of feasibility and timeline estimation of new developments.
- Support existing in-house applications and develop new applications to Support Maersk's strategic savings target.
- Manage data from multiple systems including Azure systems to enable and facilitate Subject Matter Experts to deliver Projects.
- Bringing forward innovative ideas on how the performance data in our systems along with other Maersk's systems can support optimization of our fleet.
- Handle ad-hoc data request from various stakeholders.
- Assist and participate in exploring programming languages such as Python and R for handling big data sets received from Star Connect - Maersk's auto-logging performance system.
- Manage stakeholders and support them on various inquiries related to deep dive into fuel performance data related matters.
- Ensure strong stakeholder management with Vessel Performance Management team and other departments across Maersk Line through regular meetings/conference calls.
Who we are looking for We are looking for a Data Engineer with development background who is minimum a graduate in Computer science, computer Engineering or equivalent and having a minimum work experience of 5 years, experience in a shipping company will be an added advantage. You have effective English communication and stakeholder management skills.
You are well experience in developing complex algorithms / scripts and stored procedures, developing applications in ASP.NET and VB.NET language. You have knowledge and working experience with BI tools like SSIS and SSRS and Microsoft Office packages e.g. Excel. Exposure to Data science related programming environments like R and Python.
As a person, you are an independent, systematic and detail oriented hard worker, with a positive and pro-active mind-set towards new tasks, but also comfortable with tasks of a repeatable nature. You are open and willing to take on new learnings, which are outside your comfort zone. To thrive in the Vessel Performance Support team, you must be an enthusiastic and motivated team player, who understands that a strong team performance achieves the highest goals
