Job description: JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities
»
Provide administrative support to procure services and contact with vendors to implement preventive maintenance programmes for the core facilities and equipment (e.g., liquid handling instruments, water purification systems, centrifuges, etc...);
»
Provide day-to-day support for core equipment and facilities (e.g., -20°C & -80°C freezers, centrifuges, freeze dryers, fireboy burners, etc...), including basic routine in-house preventive maintenance, monitoring equipment operations & performance, basic troubleshooting, and liaising with vendors to address equipment faults;
»
Work closely with mentor to conduct monthly infrastructure & facilities inspections and follow-up with the corrective actions identified. Ensure proper documentation and record keeping;
»
Render assistance (to persons reporting the faults) and work closely with the contractors on matters relating to infrastructure and facilities faults and issues by following-up closely on the progress and results of the corrective actions taken;
»
Work closely with mentors to formulate safe work procedures and work instructions for laboratory equipment;
»
Conduct basic in-house equipment training and assist with the maintenance of in-house equipment training register and training records;
»
Administer, monitor usage, and procure specialized research consumables and accessories;
»
Other laboratory operations administrative support, which may include, but is not limited to, queries on laboratory operational matter, receiving goods delivered to the workplace, etc...; and
»
Any other tasks and improvement projects as assigned by the HOD.
Requirements » Good diploma in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related field;
» Some practice in a microbiology or life sciences research environment is desirable. Candidates with no practice are welcome to apply;
» Technical expertise of routines in a research laboratory environment gained through formal training or practice would be considered favorably.
»
Possess the capability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently and is motivated to work in a highly collaborative environment;
»
Highly motivated to lgain and to seek continuous improvement, with the capability to adapt well and quickly to changes;
»
Good interpersonal and communication expertise in a multicultural and international environment; an
»
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel and Access)
