Job description: JOB DESCRIPTION [email protected] Corporate Lab is currently looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Associate.
Job responsibilities: » Provide technical skills into the development of future Power Electronics mechanical integration technologies and products for different Rolls-Royce businesses especially Aerospace and Marine.
» Advance the knowledge of the product design for power converter with connected components/subsystems e.g. power devices, cooling system, voltage protection system with the goal of optimizing overall system performance.
» Maintain a good knowledge of ‘state-of-the-art’ in converter component technologies e.g. new power devices, passive devices and components, magnetics, bus bar, cooling technologies and thermal management solutions, EMC, gate drives, sensors, 3D printing etc. Actively work with suppliers to acquire these technologies as required.
» Work towards becoming a subject matter expert in Mechanical System Integration for Power Electronics and represent the RRE on related matters in internal initiatives and represent the company at appropriate external venues.
» Lead R&D projects and manage cross-functional activities to deliver committed milestones, on time and within budget while meeting technical, business and customer requirements.
» Engage senior management, different Rolls-Royce businesses and functions in developing strategic R&D activities on behalf of RRE-SG
» Co-ordinate strategic collaboration with key research partners in R&D initiatives
» Maintain good customer and stakeholder engagement all over the project cycle.
» Support the achievement of department objectives aligned with global objectives.
Job Requirements: » MS degree in Mechanical Engineering (with major related to Product Design).
» Strong technical knowledge and practice working with different CAD softwares like Solidworks and Ansys.
» Designing for functional safety, preferably within the aerospace industry (DO-254/DO-178 practice would be a strong advantage).
» practice in thermo-mechanical and electro-thermal system design and development is plus
» Familiarity with different industrial standards for electrical system is an essential and knowledge/exposure of aerospace and marine standards will be advantageous
» practice in working in multi-domain team (Electrical, Mechanical, Control and Thermal). In general, you should have broad interests across engineering disciplines and a sound knowledge of interactions with other engineering disciplines.
» capability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, global team environment
» Effective oral and written communication skills with capability to drive customer requirements
» An capability to achieve targets while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
» An capability to monitor social, industrial and academic developments of technology and develop technology development plans.
