Job description: JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary
Responsible for assisting Dental Technicians in the initial stages of laboratory procedures.
MAIN tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES Specific
» Casts impressions in Plaster of Paris and related materials. The impressions can be of alginate, zinc-oxide eugenol and rubber base materials.
» Bases and trims the models if required.
» Trims and finishes the models for orthodontic use.
» Fabricates special trays for impression taking. These can be in shellac or acrylic.
» Fabricates bite rims for the construction of bite blocks.
» Records patients details on the models and special trays.
General » Responsible for the cleanliness of work area and plaster room.
» In-charge of the maintenance of the plaster room especially the stock of materials used.
» Maintains proper record of models and special trays completed.
» Adhere to rules on safety, security and fire avoidance.
» Performs any other ad-hoc tasks and tasks as and when assigned by Senior Dental Technician.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND practice
Completed Secondary 2 education with capability to read and write basic English. Some related practice preferred. Must be familiar with safety features of model trimmers, vacumm mixers and other related equipment.
