Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Legal Counsel, Commercial Banking.
Principal responsibilities To be a trusted adviser to the Business Group by providing commercially viable, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice in a cost effective manner to the Business Group.
To provide legal support and guidance to the Business Group for transactions and product development.
To identify regulatory changes affecting the Business Group in Singapore.
To assist in the development and periodic review of standard documentation.
To assist and support the Singapore Legal Function and line manager in providing advice, guidance, direction, support and managing legal and regulatory risks for the Business Group or such other projects that the General Counsel may assign you from time to time.
To implement and coordinate the strategic policies, procedures, controls and operational objectives of the Group Legal Function to ensure that exposure to legal risk is effectively managed.
To facilitate the execution of the business and operational strategies and initiatives.
To participate and provide guidance to colleagues outside Singapore in relation to local and regional projects or transactions.
To share knowledge, experience and best practices across the Singapore Legal Function.
Qualifications Requirements Qualified lawyer with relevant post qualification experience
Experience in corporate banking, including lending, cash management and trade finance preferred.
Experienced and confident practitioner
Up to date knowledge of developments in own industry sector
Able to handle a diverse range of issues
Self-starter, independent with good organizational skills
Communication and inter personal skills
Lateral thinking and problem solving abilities
Stamina and ability to work under pressure
