Professor Liu Xiaogang's group will leverage recent advances in developing novel nanomaterials with designed luminescence properties such as upconversion emission and scintillation. We use classical chemical techniques as the underlying approach for assembling nanoscale building blocks into complex integrated systems and exploring new science and applications in diverse areas, including optoelectronics, 3D volumetric display, and biomedicine, as well as optical detectors. Given that the energy conversion efficiency and the chemical stability of the nanomaterials play crucial roles in determining the performance of the nanomaterial-based devices, comprehensive understanding of the energy transfer at the nanoscale and the surface engineering-determined stability are highly demanded. In this respect, our long-term goal is to develop innovative experimental techniques for enhancing the energy conversion efficiency and the chemical stability of the luminescence nanocrystals of interest. In particular, we will dedicate our efforts to develop highly efficient ultra-small luminescence nanocrystals for the applications of bio-imaging and optogenetics.
We are currently seeking a highly-driven and creative Research Fellow to join us in our efforts to develop the ultra-small luminescence nanocrystals with customized optical properties. Efforts will also be devoted to the surface engineering for improved stability and solubility of the nanocrystals of interest.
Qualifications The candidates must hold an internationally recognized Doctoral degree in materials chemistry, optical physics, chemical engineering, or strongly related fields, and should have proven track record of excellence in preparation and characterization of luminescence nanomaterials. Candidate with experience and knowledge in the energy transfer in nanosystem is preferred.
