Job description: JOB DESCRIPTION Job DescriptionReporting to the Director of Pedagogy, the function of the Bilingual Mandarin Pedagogue - Primary is to support the development and maintenance of the Bilingual Program in our Primary schools, with a goal of vertical and horizontal alignment of Mandarin knowledge, expertise and attitudes within and across our schools. tasks & Responsibilities
» Participate in the development and continuing support of the Bilingual program across the Primary schools
» Facilitate/participate in collaborative meetings and practices to develop the written and taught curriculum
» To practice open and respectful channels of communication with colleagues at all times.
» Classroom observation/Mandarin teacher feedback
» To support the schools Senior leadership abilities Team, (Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, Senior Mandarin Teacher), in developing each member of the schools Mandarin teaching teams by:-
» building an knowledge of and implementation of a bilingual model of the written curriculum of the school
» building an knowledge of, and implementation of the EtonHouse policy statements & QA practices
» setting professional learning goals for the mandarin teaching team
» mentoring Senior Mandarin teachers
» supporting identified teachers in the implementation of the Bilingual Mandarin Curriculum and interactions with children
» collating exemplars of observations, documentation and planning to share with Mandarin teachers
» ensuring alignment within and among schools of knowledge expertise and attitudes by year level and at important pathway points
» participating in dialogue sessions/curriculum meetings with the Mandarin teaching teams to support and extend knowledge and practice
» Support the capacity development of EtonHouse Mandarin Teaching Teams:
» To identify and propose resources (as part of the budget process) which enhance curriculum delivery and capacity development (in consultation with the school’s Senior leadership abilities Team
» To organise with the school’s Senior leadership abilities Team an annual schedule of proposed capacity development opportunities (topics; venues; timing). This must be developed in consultation with the Pedagogy team to ensure that professional learning sessions across English and Mandarin teaching teams are cohesive and that dates for various sessions do not overlap
» To design and develop workshop sessions for EtonHouse teachers in Singapore and overseas e.g. Induction Programmes, Professional Development
» To participate in and to support Mandarin teachers participation in across centre Network meetings
» To ensure the translation of EtonHouse policy statements and curriculum documents are up-to-date.
» Written reporting:
» To maintain written progress reports (reporting to established goals) for each centre visitedQualifications
» Diploma/Degree in PrImary level teaching or equivalent
» Bilingual in both Mandarin and English is required
» At least 3 years of Mandarin teaching practice ideally in a co-teaching international school setting
» Knowledge of and practice in Bilingual models/approaches
» Knowledge of and practice in IB PYP, Key Stages, IGCSE
» knowledge /knowledge of inquiry, project and/or Global Perspectives located approaches in Mandarin is essential
» practice with groups of schools (2 or more schools), knowledge and practice of vertical and horizontal alignment practices within and across schools
