Role Summary:The Design Engineer - Subsea Trees position is a competent individual capable of undertaking design, validation & verification activities on Oil & Gas equipment typically pressure containing and/or load bearing in nature, meeting internal & external engineering competence standards. The position of engineer may typically work under the guidance of a Lead engineer.
Essential Responsibilities:1. Interpret customer specifications to produce design specifications
2. Develop conceptual design requirements for customer
3. Gain Senior engineer approval of design specifications
4. Identify and ensure equipment is designed in accordance with the current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
5. Identify improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications.
6. Communicate design specifications for interpretation by designers.
7. Contribute to design reviews including materials and environmental reviews
8. Prepare preliminary materials lists based upon the above, for submission to Senior engineers)
9. Prepare & check Bill of Materials (BOM) in PIMS
10. Prepare & check design verification activities, which may include but not limited to: risk analysis, failure analysis, design reviews, calculations to establish a full Design Verification Package (DVP). Ensure DVP has third party or independent review.
11. Prepare & check Factory Acceptance (FAT) procedures, Prototype Test Procedures and document results (PVT)
12. Prepare and/or check drawings and calculations undertaken by designers & peers in support of design.
13. Ensure all engineering activities and documents are correctly archived in the engineering database.. Maintains a clean and safe working environment
14. Liase with manufacturing to ensure designs are suitable and allow for efficient manufacture. Provide input to manufacturing as required
15. Contribute to field support as required.
16. Contribute to shop floor and vendor queries as required.Qualifications/Requirements:1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2. Minimum of 0 years experience preferably 2 years of post graduate industrial experience.
3. Awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental regulatory requirements for this industry.
4. Awareness of drafting standards
5. Awareness of materials, including welding and heat treatment of metals and elastomers.
6. Awareness of industry standards and codes for area of work.
7. Awareness of design process methodologies.
