JOB DESCRIPTION Manager, Power
To professionally manage the Power Section so the 22KV, 750V, 415V, UPS & Battery Charger Systems
maintained by the branch are always safe and available to support SMRT rail business in providing a
safe & reliable train service to the passengers.
Key Roles and Responsibilities 1) Ensure that the system for train operations by implementing an effective & efficient maintenance
strategy integrating with the rail business System Safety Programme Plan (SSPP).
2) Prepare annual budget and ensure that expenditures are tracked and monitored so that they are
within allocated financial budgets for both Capital & Operating accounts.
3) Provide technical advice and engineering studies support to the line maintenance activities on
improvement works through innovation and leveraging on new technology.
4) Align staff with company Vision, Mission & Core Values through regular communications & sharing
sessions on progress & development of role out plans.
5) Manage the group of supervisory staff and line / section managers to meet the set KPIs and
maintain high level of productivity by monitoring & reviewing the followings:
Organisation of manpower deployment to match workloads.
Processes review to organise other resources deployment integrating with the Quality
Assurance (QA) programme.
Assessment on in-house works as against the option of contract works.
Regular Branch’s meeting.
Liaise with Authorities, such as EMA, LTA and Power Grid for power-related issues.
6) Train and develop staff to be competent and proficient in their respective areas of work and
prepare them for career advancement through IDP program.
7) Implement a Certificate of Authorisation COA system to ensure the competency level of staff.
8) Maintain good industrial relations through creating good rapport and regular dialogue with ground
staff and union representatives whilst keeping all channels of communication open.
9) Implement and maintenance of the Quality Assurance System in accordance with ISO9001:2000.
10) Authorise duties on SMRT electrical installations.
11) Staff counseling & staff appraisal.
Requirements: - At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in railway operation or maintenance.
- A valid licence as Electrical PE and LEW will be an advantage.
- With self-motivation, always striving to improve or meet a standard of excellence.
- Able to lead by example.
- Able to communicate effectively and work in and as a team.
