Job Description Summary: This position is responsible for:
1. Advising the business in Singapore on legal, regulatory and commercial issues in various markets in LATAM, MEEA (including Israel), Russia and Eastern European markets. Providing legal and regulatory advice relating to commercial contracting, payments licensing, anti- money laundering and counter terrorist financing, data protection and privacy, competition law, consumer protection;
2. Drafting commercial contracts and working on various transactions;
3. advising on customer complaints disputes, including litigation and settlements;
4. working collaboratively with overseas colleagues and senior stakeholders across the PayPal group across multiple time-zones;
5. monitoring ongoing legislation and regulatory changes and drafting policies to address the new legal and regulatory requirements.
Job Description: Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years post qualification experience and be from an established In House Legal team or established Private Practice Law firm with relevant financial services expertise.
Preference for candidates with solid experience and expertise in Australian financial services law, regulation and law reform relating to payments, banking and credit, including a sound knowledge of AML/CTF regulation.
We would consider candidates with solid and broad legal and regulatory experience and expertise in financial services including payments, consumer and retail banking, securities brokerage, wealth management, consumer credit and finance.
- Ability to work independently ‘Out of the box’ legal and commercial thinking with effective problem solving skills.
- Proven analytical, organisational, project management and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably another language
- Experience in creating training procedures or training programs
- Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a fast paced and dynamic financial services environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams as well as Senior Management
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on leadership, team management, teamwork and ability to foster/manage relationships across multiple departments
- Extremely proactive with a strong bias for action.
